Six FigureBarber Academy

Austen Kallas built a nine-chair barbershop in Milwaukee and a following that trusts him. We built the brand, the site, the checkout and the ad engine that turned what he knows into a course barbers anywhere can buy.

The starting point

Good course. Wrong storefront.

The course already lived in Kajabi. What it didn't have was a real place to sell it. The public site was a basic template with a Get Course button and not much else: no curriculum, no pricing breakdown, no proof. The checkout it pointed to showed a free trial instead of a price.

The first ad dollars went into boosted Instagram posts. They bought 432 clicks at about fifteen cents each, which sounds great until you notice there was no pixel on the site. Nobody could be retargeted and nothing told us who was actually interested. We weren't going to put a real budget behind that.

What we built
01

A mark that holds up at 40 pixels

Austen's shop already has a strong identity, so the academy needed its own without competing with it. We landed on a solid crossed-shears mark over a condensed wordmark, with barber-pole red and blue kept for accents. The system ships in dark, light and over-photo versions, plus badge crops for profile pictures and the favicon, all tested down to ad-thumbnail size.

02

A sales page that pitches like a barber would

sixfigurebarber.academy is a custom build, not a template. It leads with what barbers actually want (raise your prices, keep the chair full) and backs it up section by section: the full 15-lesson curriculum, a three-tier comparison, a 30-second quiz that recommends a tier, and a six-figure calculator that shows what a barber really keeps after booth rent, no-shows and taxes.

Austen's reels are self-hosted so they load fast and never break when Instagram changes an embed. A student's real before-and-after numbers sit right in the middle of the page.

Every click accounted for

We rebuilt the Kajabi checkout so each tier shows its real price with the launch discount already applied, and killed the free-trial bug. Then we wired tracking properly: one Meta pixel across the sales site and the checkout domain, Conversions API running server-side so iOS and ad blockers don't swallow the data, and verified domains so every event counts.

When something looked off, we didn't guess. We ran real purchases through the live checkout, watched the events land, and refunded them.

48 static ads, one system

We wrote and designed 16 ad concepts in three sizes each, built around how barbers actually talk: texts from real students, a Notes app list, a Reddit-style thread, bold founder quotes and a breakdown of what a $35 cut really pays. Lo-fi native looks run next to branded frames so the account learns which style earns the click. Google display and search assets came out of the same system.

Ad designed as a Notes app list of seven things barber school never taught

05

A student's story, turned into a show

Marlo went from $30 to $50 a cut and picked up 153 new clients in one summer. We produced his sit-down with Austen as a full podcast episode, then cut it down for every place it needed to live.

  • Full episode in 4K
  • YouTube thumbnail and upload copy
  • Spotify and Apple show notes
  • Full transcript
  • Six short cuts in three sizes
  • Paid social upload sheet

Built to keep running

Not every barber is ready to buy from an ad. We added a book-a-call path next to buy-now, with Instagram DM automation and call scheduling so Austen can close on the phone. Behind the scenes, custom scripts audit the ad account and check it against a set of rules, so problems show up before they cost money.

I knew the craft and I knew how to run a shop. Selling a course online was a whole different game. Collin built all of it, and he tells me straight what the numbers say.

Every piece above was built by the same small team, so the site, the tracking and the ads were designed to work together from day one. No handoffs, no finger-pointing when a number looks wrong.
